Montesquieu Institute: from science to society

Politics as a toy for the media (and the other way around)

What kind of influence do commercial developments have on modern journalism? Politicians and political parties search for new ways to reach voters. Having success in media appearances seems essential. Do the media determine political reality?

These questions and more were discussed in the debate. This was done by Dominique van der Heyde (parliamentary journalist NOS), Max van Weezel (journalist for the magazine Vrij Nederland en former chairman of Press Centre Nieuwspoort), Arendo Joustra, (editor in chief of the magazine Elsevier anf former correspondent European Union and political editor) Yvonne Zonderdop, program maker manager).

The debate was moderated by former politician Kars Veling (director of Prodemos) and political scientist Roos Wouters.
