As of 1 September 2010, the Montesquieu Institute welcomes Ruud Koole as Montesquieu fellow. Ruud Koole is an associate professor of Political Science at the University of Leiden.
Following several years in national politics and at the University, Ruud Koole will primarily use this fellowship to focus on comparative (literature) research concerning recent developments in Dutch politics. How are changes and consistencies in Dutch political institutions, decisionmaking processes and ways of interaction explained? Furthermore, he will continue his research on the functioning of political parties (history, membership, leadership, decisionmaking processes, nomination, political programmes, culture and financing) in different substudies.
Recently, Ruud Koole has published his mémoires from his period in national politics: Mensenwerk. Herinneringen van een partijvoorzitter 2001-2007 (Amsterdam, Bert Bakker, 2010).
