In Spring 2010, the Montesquieu Institute hosted three discussion sessions in cooperation with the newspaper Trouw as a follow-up of the so-called Parliamentary Self-reflection that the Dutch Parliament organised last year.
The topic of the first session held on 8 March in The Hague was 'politics without policy, policy without politics'. Speakers on the subject were Jan Willem Holtslag, member of the WRR, and Roos Vermeij, who is a member of the Parliament for the PvdA.
The second session held on 12 April was about 'the investigating role of Parliament' and was introduced by prof. Luc Verhey of Maastricht University and Stef Blok, MP for the VVD.
On 17 May the third session was held about 'the good member of Parliament'. Speakers were Mr.Piet-Hein Donner, minister for Social Affairs and Employment and Prof. Joop van den Berg of Maastricht University.
The discussions were all moderated by Hans Goslinga from the Trouw-newspaper.
