Vervanging van de permanente vertegenwoordiger van Tsjechië bij de Europese Unie

De Raad van de Europese Unie is in kennis gesteld van de benoeming door de Tsjechische regering van Ambassadeur Milena VICENOVÁ tot permanent vertegenwoordiger van de Tsjechische Republiek bij de Europese Unie.

Ambassadeur VICENOVÁ is op 7 januari 2008 in functie getreden.

Czech Ambassador to the EU

Ambassador Milena Vicenová took up the post of Czech Permanent Representative to the EU on 7 January 2008. Ms. Vicenová is the first woman on the post and one of the few women among ambassadors in Brussels.

Ambassador Vicenová was born in 1955 in the Moravian town of Prerov. She graduated from the University of Veterinary Medicine in the city of Brno, an experience which formed her life-long dedication to the Environment and Agriculture.

After working on several private and state administration posts, she was named the first minister of Agriculture in the government of the Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek in 2006.

She gained her experience with the EU and Czech foreign policy as the director for the successful pre-accession SAPARD programme in the Czech Republic as well as a member of the prime minister‘s negotiating team for the European structural funds. She was a Czech representative to the European Food Safety Authority Advisory Forum and Czech spokesperson to the SCA. She took part in many direct negotiations in Brussels, travelled widely and lectured throughout Europe and the United States.

Milena Vicenová was also active as a specialised journalist in the field of agriculture. In 1992 she became the president of the national Club of Agricultural Journalists and Publicists, was named the Czech representative to the Committee of International Federation of Agricultural Journalists IFAJ as well as the Editor-in-Chief of the agricultural magazine Náš Chov.

In 2007 she was also active in the Czech National Training Fund, which brings together leading academics, politicians and governmental ministries, business people, trade unions, regions and research institutes.

Milena Vicenová speaks fluent English, German and French and has a good knowledge of Spanish and Russian.

She comes from Prague, a city where her husband Milan Vicena, an expert on reproductive medicine and two daughters, students at the Charles University still live.
