The judges and winners of the MI-prices 2009

On 18 June 2010 the new Montesquieu Awards were presented. There were three categories: Bachelor Thesis Award, Master Thesis Award and the Europe Award for Junior Academics.

Bachelor Thesis Award

For the best Bachelor Thesis on a topic related to the Montesquieu Institute

Grade

8 or higher

Graded

During the calender year of 2009

Public Administration, Political Science, Law, History, European and International Studies

Subject

Relates to parliamentary history or (European) constitutional developments*

Prize

€ 750,-  and a certificate by the four universities that are part of the Montesquieu Institute: Groningen, Leiden, Maastricht en Nijmegen

For the best scientific article written by a junior academic

A graduate in one of the below mentioned disciplines who is currently employed as a PhD student

€ 1000,-  and a certificate by the four universities that are part of the Montesquieu Institute: Groningen, Leiden, Maastricht en Nijmegen

Practical Matters

Participants must provide three hardcopies of the thesis/article. Furthermore, a digital version needs to be submitted in pdf-format. By submitting the thesis/article, the participant gives the Montesquieu Institute the right to publish the thesis/article on its website and use its contents for research and educational purposes. For other purposes the copyright remains with the sender.

The selection of nominees will be based upon four criteria: originality, significance of the study, overall quality and results and further accomplishments of the thesis. The jury consistsof one professor and two researchers of the Montesquieu Institute or its participating Universities: Groningen, Leiden, Maastricht and Nijmegen.

5.

Awards ceremony

The awards ceremony will take place on 18 June 2010 in the Great Hall of the Dutch Senate. For an impression of this year's ceremony, click here.
