In order to make optimum use of the expertise available between the cooperating parties (CPG, DNPP, PDC and Campus The Hague) and in order to guarantee successful development of the Centre, each partner will make certain contributions to the joint venture and they will jointly play the role of trailblazer during the first five years of the Centre's existence.

The following distribution of tasks and fields of attention has been tentatively agreed on within the framework of this joint trailblazer role:

Campus The Hague of Leiden University

Campus The Hague of Leiden University has excellent research and teaching facilities. It focuses primarily on questions of law, politics and governance, with special reference to the interrelationships between them , the wide social and culture-historical context and the effects of globalization, demographic and technological trends on Dutch society.

Faculty of Law, Department of Public Law of Maastricht University

The Faculty of Law of Maastricht University focuses on judicial research in the field of legal comparison, ius commune, European law and human rights. The Department of Public Law in particular is occupied with constitutional law, public law, and social law.

Centre for Parliamentary History (Dutch abbreviation CPG)

  • reception of guest researchers

The CPG is attached to Radboud University Nijmegen. It performs research on and teaches the modern parliamentary history of the Netherlands. Its main publications are the series Parlementaire Geschiedenis van Nederland na 1945 (Parliamentary History of the Netherlands since 1945) and the Jaarboek Parlementaire Geschiedenis (Annual Review of Parliamentary History).

Documentation Centre for Dutch Political Parties (Dutch abbreviation DNPP)

The DNPP forms part of the University of Groningen. Its remit is to provide systematic and generally accessible documentation on Dutch political parties, with special reference to the extraparliamentary activities of the parties. Its tasks consist of collecting and making available documentary material on and by Dutch political parties; the provision of (academic) information about Dutch political parties; and the encouragement, support and supervision of academic research on Dutch political parties.

Parliamentary Documentation Centre (Dutch abbreviation PDC)

  • knowledge exchange network
  • basic information (incl. basic analysis)
  • one or more places for interns

The PDC is attached to Leiden University. Its remit is to collect, archive and make available via advanced database techniques data on the work of the Dutch Parliament. The data it holds include a unique collection of biographies of government ministers and members of parliament from 1813 to the present day. In addition, the PDC maintains data on various parliamentary activities from legislation and the composition of parliamentary committees to elections and the process of cabinet formation. The PDC is furthermore responsible for maintaining various websites about European matters, such as www.GrondwetEuropa.nl (Grondwet is the Dutch for Constitution).
